Walmart and Suburbia
a Wal-Mart in Burlington, ON Canada on December 04 hosting review
We had an overflow crowd, standing room only in the 80 person theatre and turned about 20 away.
The Escape preview is excellent, I am persuaded it will be as well regarded as its predecessor, End of Suburbia. Excellent original footage, clips. It has a theme of following a set of friends of differing circumstances through their response to energy famine.
Video of trailer was not so good in this venue, watch it online at www.escapefromsuburbia.com. The night was too long, with the 97 minute Walmart film, so we had no discussion time after. Next week would show the 10 min Escape from Suburbia with the 20 minute version of Walmart, then have lots of time for discussion.
We're showing both again next Monday 11th. I believe it is a credible and persuasive argument for relocalizing family lifestyle choices.

Questions for the host:

Q: Why did you host this screening? What were your goals?
A: raise discussion of what sustainable lifestyles and development really looks like for our city, engage people to participate in the Energy Preparedness Plan research, the Community Gardening project and City Hall Watch project.

Q: Would you do it again for another film?
A: YES

The venue, Upper Canada Cinemas, gets 5 stars
