Do we remember the GOOD Wal-Mart Does?
a Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price film review
I was a Wal-Mart associate for 17 years and have had my fill of the negative press this company always gets. Although there are some issues with smaller businesses failing, the company has committed to lower prices for the communities in addition to providing jobs when smaller businesses couldn't offer this. I have seen towns flourish because a DC was built providing 500+ jobs and I myself was on site during Hurricane Katrina and saw the impact this company made. I also think people should visit with some of the officials in Jefferson Parish and see exactly what a difference Wal-Mart made. I have seen them make "make shift" stores to provide supplies to victims of devistation, seen them give Millions (in merchandise & cash donations) toward the disaster relief efforts in addition to opening the stores to local law enforcement and national guardsmen so they could get the supplies they needed to aid in rescue efforts. Most of the troops were sent out with only the clothes on their backs, so they needed this service, in which NO OTHER retailer offered (that I am aware of).
I really think that before negative is the sole topic of discussion, that we need to remember the good this company provides during many situations. I guess I would issue a challenge that if you DONT shop at Wal-Mart, you may have a right to focus on the negative, but if you so much as enter a store with the intent to buy, you are a hyprocrit. I come from a family of Wal-Mart Associates and can honestly say that although there are always areas of improvement (as with any company), I will support them to the end, after all, in the end....they are always there when needed.

Ms. Moore, I have to ask you what planet you're on? Here on Earth we've witnessed the destruction of the local community whenever a WalMart comes to town. Stores that were the anchor of cities and towns all across America closing because they were driven out of business with WalMarts cheap, Made in China merchandise. So much for it's long heralded "All American Company" image it liked to project. Let's talk about it's famed medical plan. What good is a medical insurance plan if 90% of your employees cannot afford to have it? WalMart employees are the largest group on State health insurance plans for the poor, in EVERY state. I work for a company that is a WalMart supplier. One can work all year making products for WalMart, and barely turn a profit...and for what, so they can shaft the community, their workers, and be a proud sponsor of the "WalMartization" of America. WalMart, rapidly turning America into a third world country!

I'm a senior citizen who lives on a fixed income. Without the Super WM we have nearby I know I wouldn't be able to afford things I need.
The difference in prices from a local store compaared to WM means food and medicine I need.
The area I live in is rural and does not have jobs for people. Our young people leave here to find work elsewhere.
It's a neccesity to shop where we can afford to buy the things we need to survive and still have money left to pay our bills, heat our homes, and buy medicines too.
Yes we have our "Mom & Pop" stores here too. But they hire only family and friends and none of them can offer benefits to their employes. I realize small businesses can't afford the premiums. In this day and age you know you need medical benefits for your self and family members.
I have never had problems with any WM products and if I need to return anything their is no hassle.
People get real, You do what you have to do to survive. I LIKE OUR WAL MART!!!!
