Great turnout and Discussion
a Consuming Kids in Houghton, MI on November 23 hosting review
I couldn't have asked for a better screening. I reserved a room at the local library that seats 50 people and I have 42 sign my sheet before the movie and an estimated 10 more that didn't sign in. There was a great mix of people. We had parents, grandparents, local high school and middle school children, a worker with a grant from NIH for media literacy, a health worker and the Director from the local area preschool BHK. It was a great experience, the students were there for extra credit, and came with no expectations and left wide eyed with a new set of tools to fight advertisements.

Questions for the host:

Q: Why did you host this screening? What were your goals?
A: I wanted to open the eyes of parents and teachers.

Q: Any additional materials you could have used?
A: I could have used extra copies of the movies to sell, but maybe next time.

Q: Any ideas on how you can use "Consuming Kids" in the future?
A: I have suggested the high school license to the member of the media literacy grant for use in her program

Q: Any advice for future screening hosts?
A: Bring handouts and get the word out early. Target the schools, teachers unions, health experts and natural businesses, such as co-ops

Q: Would you do it again for another film?
A: YES

The venue, Portage Lake District Library, gets 5 stars
