Questions for the host:
Q: Why did you host this screening? What were your goals?
A: I hosted it to inform the people of my community about what is Really happening in Iraq
Q: Any additional materials you could have used?
A: I could have used some "what you can do" types of materials. I printed a paper with the email addresses of a few of the local papers so that people can write letters to the editor (about the war profiteering topic) if they so choose.
Q: Any advice for future screening hosts?
A: Know where the lights are and the pause button. If i had known those in advance i could have turned off the film and on the lights before folks started leaving. Then i could have given my very quick speech (with the papers that had info on who to send letters to the editor to) and my sign up sheet (for those wishing to attend future films) BEFORE folks started leaving the room.
Also, keep in mind that the library, while willing to purchase the DVD for free, charges individuals (or rather, individuals representing non-profits) for using the room (though $20 isn't too much). Also the library folks are Not good about allowing fliers in their precious facility. They are helpful when it comes to arranging for the use of the room and the playing of the DVD
The venue, Farmington Hills Library, gets 4 stars
